Hey guys. Other then the transmission .   Are there any differences is the parts on a three speed vs a 4 speed?      I've seen a few three on the tree cars come up for sale recently.   It's got me wondering about parts interchange for doing the four speed convention.

pretty sure the clutch linkage parts are the same for each given engine combo, small bell pattern vs large

FE you're on your own

now I wonder if the frame mounted pivot is always the same?

I've never have seen a floor shifted 3spd 72/73 torino, pretty sure all were 3 on the tree. I also believe the 3spd speedo cable entered from the left side of the trans?

Tighten it down until it snaps and then back it off a half turn!

if the speedo is on the left it's the same cable & driven gear as an automatic,
RUG 4 speed uses a longer cable & opposite rotation driven gear for a right side connection

The big difference is the three on a tree has the shifter on the steering column while the four speed has the shifter on the floor. LOLLOLLOL

Clutch pedal and linkage are the same between 3 and 4 speed.  3 speeds were all column shift, so you'd need a column and tunnel hump to look correct.  Reverse wire harness for backup lights to make those work.  I'm not sure on  the speedo cable.  I'm not 100% sure, but about 95% sure driveshaft length is the same.

Other than swapping the 3 speed manual column out and cutting a hole in the hump on my base wagon, pretty much everything else is straightforward to swap in a 5 speed. Pedals are there, Z bar, etc. My preference would be to use the Fox clutch/pedal setup I have with a cable for smoother action, which I may do. That would leave me with a couple of complete sets of 4 speed changeover components for a future project.
