Have never done this before, but have the kit and I'm ready to do it. Do I need to drop the exhaust and the cross member? I looks like I can remove the tail shaft mount and jack up the tranny from the pan to clear the cross member and then remove the tail shaft. Or maybe I have to drop the cross member, let it lay on the exhaust, then remove the tail shaft...?

Also, how hard is it to press out/in the old/new bushing? Need special tools?

Thanks!!!

yeah let it hang on the exhaust support the trans and take the tail shaft housing off then it can be pressed.
something just slightly smaller than the outside of the bushing, so it will be able to clear the housing when pressing it out and in, maybe the right size washer and a large punch to drive it, like a cam bearing tool or seal driver. or press it.

My father in law made a tool to do these without pulling the tailshaft housing. I thought he was copying an existing tool, as he also had made one for his corvette's tailshaft bushing.
