I remember way back we used to put Vasolene on them. 
Still a good idea, something else, or is dry better?

Chapstick works as a good non-stick, and isn't as greasy as Vaseline.

Just don't use crunchy peanut butter.

Chapstick is also great for keeping door gaskets from freezing the doors shut in the winter.
