Just got my engine back from the machine shop, all done and ran great on the shop's dyno. I need to put the OEM motor mounts back on and the rebuild shop did not mark them as to left or right side. I see they are slightly different and it concerns me that if I put them on the wrong side(s) I will throw out the position of the motor, tranny and drive shaft by about an inch. Any help would be appreciated to identify which is left and right. 1974 Cougar XR7 with 351C and mated tranny ready to go back in. ( I was thinking of taking a measurement from the tranny support/cross member holes to the front frame holes to try and get an exact measurement but would like to find a more better way ) Thanks to all....

Look at the angles on them. Set them on the frame and slide the bolts thru. The engine mounting brackets will be parallel with them on the right sides, and at a noticeable angle the wrong way. My mounts sat on the workbench for about a year, so i had the same issue.

If i remember right, the bolts won't even go thru the mount/frame if they are on the wrong sides... |

The engine doesn't sit level. The mount angle should be the same as the carburetor base angle on intake.
