Good morning! My name is Matt and I am helping my father finish up his 72 Gran Torino Sport. It was originally restored by my Father and I 18 years ago as our first major automotive restoration project. Since then we've learned a significant amount more and have started to go back and upgrade/fix some areas.

Interesting back story, is this 72 Torino was my dad's first car and he's held on to it for all these years.

A little about the Torino
- Built 351W based block at 427 CID
- Built C6
- Dark Green with gold fleck paint

I will get some pictures and post them.

Given this 1 year body style some of the parts have been hard to find. Hoping there are some good leads on this forum. Smile

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Matt.  There are lots of 1972 owners on this forum, myself included.   It's also a great place to buy parts or find leads on parts.  Your Torino must move out nicely with that 427 stroker.

I have upgraded you to a full member so you can post photos and and full forum access.

Thank you Vince! It moves quite nicely!

Glad to see there are other 72s out there, its a rarity to see one.

Welcome Matt, you will appreciate this forum I'm sure. My first car was a 72 Gran Torino, I loved it and moved to a Ranchero later on.

The 72-79 years have lots of other models which have many parts you can use for the 72. The 72 had the unique front end, but the interior and suspension, brakes, and many feature items can come from other cars. I swapped the 72 interior from mine into my other 73 Ranchero, console, dash, seats, and door panels.

Post up some pictures, and tell us what you want to do. I love the new stroker choices we have know. I've got a 347 going into a 92 Lincoln, and if I was younger a 427 with Cleveland heads would be on a project list.
