I'm looking at purchasing a 1968 Mercury Montego MX convertible.
This one has split bench seat or they might be called bucket seats.
It's says it is a C4 three-speed automatic transmission.
The shifter is on the floor. I have not seen any other Montegos with a shift on the floor. my other one was a shift on the column.
My question is... was this an available option in '68 or has somebody modified it?

The '68 Merc brochure shows buckets as optional on the MX, available on both hardtops & convertibles.  Does yours have a console?  Buckets were required for console.   I have seen a few pics of 68/69 Torino's with buckets & console, but still had a column shift with a blank plate where the shifter would go, but those are quite rare.

I believe the Mercs used the same console as Torino. Here's my '69 Torino console.

Yes it has a console exactly like the one in the picture of the Torino that you just posted.
