Hello forum. I want to mount sport mirrors on my car. On which side of the door does the ferule go??
From the inside and up? Or from the outside and down?

My thinking is, if it is from outside down…nothing is really holding the mirror down to the door…..

Ford used a 'nutsert' to mount mirrors and other exterior items. It takes the correct size ferule and a special tool. Nutsert is inserted into the hole from the top and, using the tool,  pinch or collapse the nutsert on to the metal

Ok…are these nutserts and tool available? Or are equivalents available?
I have a Scott Drake mounting kit, but the inserts are soft rubber…that wont hold much….

I found the tools and stuff……probably a good idea to do that!

I bought mine at Harbor Freight.  Came with an assortment of nutserts.

Nutsert tools and the inserts can be had at any number of placed. I used this tool recently to install factory Ford running boards onto different brackets.
marked and drilled new holes, used the nutserts and clamped it down.

Link off amazon for what I got, search "Astro Pneumatic Tool 1442" on amazon.
{I tried to upload the link from Amazon and it was coming off invalid for some reason}

Astro Pneumatic Tool 1442 13" Hand Rivet Nut Setter Kit - Metric & SAE W/ 60pc Rivnuts

I've found Astro to be a decent brand for the money. I'm sure you will have something local in Denmark but hope this helps.
