Gday gents!
I’ve been noticing lately a lot of the period advertising of 69 for that model year and early 70 models that there was deliberately no mention of Torino and Cobra together, they either made an ad for the Torino or the Cobra, but not the Torino Cobra.
As Ford had only recently acquired the Cobra trademark from Carrol Shelby in 68, were the first Cobras just that, Cobras, and not Torino’s?
As the months went by, the two (Torino + Cobra) blended together in advertising and publications, but there seems to be a possibility that the 69 and pre-Jan70 build date Cobras were not considered Torino’s.
Is there any Ford press release on this? Any documents that dispel or support?
Craig, located in Brisbane Australia: I own a 1974 XBGT Falcon, 1970 Torino Cobra
