I got a motor off of CL and I plan on using it for a build (stroker or mild street/strip.)  I was told it was from a LTD, but I'm not putting much faith in what I was told.  What I know thus far is the markings in the lifter valley are 351 WCP 12.  Does anyone know what I may be dealing with?  I know it's a Windsor, in the heads there is a 78 (model year?)  I will post more info as I have time to get to it.

those are the numbers needed to ID the parts.

Both the part numbers on the heads and block.

as broken down by the codes...

D= 1970's
9= 1979
A= Ford (generic), Galaxie
E= Engine

so you have a basic 1979 Ford 351W BLOCK from a 79-83 car (probably an LTD just as you were told).

Use the same thing for the heads.
