    Posted: 16-October-2012 at 4:05PM
My Ranchero is now ready to scrap. Decided to leave the engine and transmission in it after getting it ready to pull. That is when I noticed that the engine is actually a '77 model 351 Windsor and the transmission looks to be a C6 out of a van. Since it is behind a Windsor, it is an oddity - being a C6 with the small block bolt pattern.

Question is... should I keep it? Is there any market for a small block C6 out there? Or should I just leave it in there for the weight. Basically, I am tired of this truck taking up my trailer and don't need an extra transmission, unless it is worth my while.

Advice?

Agreed. I wish there were someone on the forum that could use it before it gets shredded.

The engine and transmission not working? Quess you have excess of engines and transmission lying around in U.S., items like that would be worth something hereSmile Looking from here, save the trans Tongue
C6 works well behind a small block.

Both have been sitting for well over 15 years. Both were supposedly rebuilt way back.

I tend to save everything and since it would fit on a 351 c ( Small Pattern ) I would save the C6

Guess I will go ahead and yank it, pull the transmission off the engine and dump that Windsor back onto the trailer.

Don't know what it would cost to ship, but I would be interested.

Building a 351C/C6 combo for a Torino, so an extra tranny to go with the "extra" engine would be nice.

PM me if you're interested.

Really, I have been running a C6 behind the 302 that was in the car for over 5 years. It is now sitting outside the shop right now, still connected to the 302. It was rebuilt about 3 years ago with extra clutches and a shift kit, so if anyone needs it, let me know!

I see them from time to time on my local Craigslist and really would prefer one if I was building another motor like the one I had in my Torino since they seem indestructable. The trans that was in my Torino was sitting since 1995 and handled the 450-500HP with no problem! All I did was put in a $40 B&M shift improver along with synthetic trick shift and it is still running to this day for the guy that got the car.
So I say KEEP/SAVE it!! Wink

It is a fin back I believe. I'll save it, the valve covers/oil pan off the Windsor and toss the rest back on the trailer. Wish I could get the HB off the front, as I will need the timing chain cover off it to retrofit to a single hump pan for the FI 351 swap (Pan and timing cover eliminate the double pan and pan-mounted dipstick). No real need for the heads and block (77 model 2 bbl).

Thanks guys.
