Has anyone on this site tried to move bumpers back closer to body If so how does it look and is it a lot of work.

MLachance did on his 77. From what I recall he pulled the front bumper supports and stuck them in a press. He don't did the fronts.

You might have to section and reduce the width to make it fit.

Sorry about not posting up better pictures today. Got really side tracked. Assuming you have a Cougar or T-Bird, (LTD II/Ranchero may use a different bumper)... I was able to move the bumper back 2.25". I left about .5" between the bumper and the upper grill. I didn't section them at all. I didn't want to cut up nice new bumpers for trial and error. If I were to section them anywhere, it'd be on the sides. Seeing as they cover about 2" of molding. If you had a base model, or something without the body side moldings, it wouldn't make a difference. As for the back bumper, I didn't touch it at all. I will definitely upload some pictures tomorrow. Hopefully they'll help you out. |
