Hi, On page 9 of my 69 owners manual it says that head restraints are standard but my buckets don't have them. Does everyone else have them? Thanks, Ed

Do know the build date of your car? The Feds required headrests on cars sold after 1/1/69. They apparently were an option on the 68's. There have been discussions on this on the FCA website forum and here's what the consensus seems to be:
They were mandated as of 1/1/69 Prior to that they were an option on 68 (two post) and 69 (single post) On the early 69 cars they were an added option that basically came standard. In other words, in the 69 models built between august and 12/31/68 you got them even though they were listed as an “option” With a 50+ year old car, who knows what has or hasn't been messed with. My June 69 build has them. No mention of headrests on window sticker or Marti, just 'bucket seats'. Edited by schufitz - 07-November-2024 at 4:10AM |

My 69 Fastback was built on 1/28/69. Maybe the seats were built in 1968?
