There are several ways to post picture on this forum. The following posts on this site will go through each method step by step. There is also a post that shows you how to resize photos to make them work with this forum. Please note due to software changes by Web Wiz Forums, when uploading from a mobile device, follow the instructions for the computer. They are very similar now. We are still trying to resolve the issues in the mean time. This post will cover the following:
Please note that to upload photos you must be a upgraded to a "New Member." Brand New Members and non-members cannot upload photos. Please see this thread for more details: Edited by 72FordGTS - 02-August-2019 at 1:39AM |

How to upload and post a photo using a computer Please note there are no more size or dimension restrictions to upload photos. The forum will automatically resize most photos when you upload them. It's generally easier to write your text first, then insert the photos afterwards. This is a video that CaliforniaJohnny made that goes through the process: Step 1 You must use the "Post reply" or "New topic" button to post a picture, not the quick reply. Click one of the two and a window like below will open. Click the insert image button, with the little tree picture (circled in red). ![]() Step 2 Click the browse button, as circled in red below. ![]() Step 3 Search your computer or phone to find the photo you wish to upload. Select that photo by clicking on it as shown below. ![]() Step 4 Click the upload button (circled in red) and the file will upload to GTS.org This file will now be saved with all your other files on this forum. You can use it again in future posts without having to upload. ![]() Step 5 Once the file upload is complete, the screen will look like this. Most photos will automatically resize once uploaded and will be less than 999 pixels. If your photo is less than 999 pixels in both dimensions skip ahead to step 6. Note the red circle, this where the forum shows the file size. In this case, the width of the file is over 999 pixels and it will have to be resized. ![]() Step 5a (only required if you must resize photos) Select the height and width. Delete the numbers in both dimensions. Remember which of the two dimensions was larger (in this case it was the width) ![]() Step 5b Fill in the width to something less than 999 pixels. In this case were will resize the width to 800. ![]() Step 5c Now enter in the height. In this case we'll use 600. You can just try to resize to 800 x 600 as it will keep most photos in proportion, but not all. Please see below on how to keep in proportion (you can skip the math part if the if the photo looks okay as 800 x 600). NOTE to keep the photo in proportion, some basic math is needed. T his photo started off as 1000 pixels and we resized it to 800. So take the smaller dimension and divide it by the original larger dimension. 800/1000 = 0.80 Now to figure out the width, take the result and multiply by the original width. In this case 750 x 0.80 = 600. When finished with the dimensions, then click the OK button (circled in blue). ![]() Step 6 Once you click the OK button you will come back to your post window. You photo will now be inserted into the post as shown below. You can add a another photo be repeating the steps. Once you're happy with the post, you're finished. Click the "Post New Topic" or the "Post Reply" button to complete your post Step 7 will show you how to preview your post (optional step). This will show you how your photo will look once posted. ![]() Step 7 (OPTIONAL STEP) If you wish to see what your photo will look like in the post, click the preview button and a new screen will open with the photo. Here you can make sure its in the proper location and is the proper size. If you are unhappy with the photo, leave the preview mode. Click on the photo and press delete to remove it. Then start over again with step 1 (you will not have to upload the photo again, just select it from your files on the left, see below on how to post a photo already uploaded for more detail) ![]() Edited by 72FordGTS - 16-August-2018 at 6:03AM |

How to post a photo hosted online by a third party host If you have your photos on a third party website, such as Flickr or Picturetrail, you do not need to upload the photos to post them. You just need to know the image URL (image address) and you can post it on GTS.org. PLEASE NOTE Photobucket no longer allows free third part hosting. I use picture picturetrail because it's free and it works, but I am not affiliated with them in anyway. Here is the website: Flickr is another option that members have used here successfully. One of our Members Canuck will also host photos for member for free. Please send him a PM if interested. Click Here to send him a PM: http://forum.grantorinosport.org/pm_new_message_form.asp?name=Canuck Here is a list of other websites that host photos for free. Step 1 It's usually easier to write your text then insert the photos afterwards. You must use the "Post reply" or "New topic" button to post a picture, not the quick reply. Click one of the two and a window like below will open. Click the insert image button, with the little tree picture (circled in red). ![]() Step 2 Go to the Image URL box. Highlight the http:// in the box as shown below. Now delete this text. ![]() Step 3 Now go to your image hosting site and copy the URL for the photo your wish to post. Most photo sites have a page where you can get the URL. On picturetrail there is a "Image URL" tab on the top of the page. You want to copy the direct image link, ie just the address for the photo, which should look something like Copy this image URL into the "Image URL box as shown below (red circle). ![]() Step 4 Click the preview button (circled in red). You image should show up. Once this happens click the "OK' button (circled in blue). ![]() Step 5 You will return to your post page. Your image will be in the post. Click "Post Reply" or "Post new topic" to complete the process. ![]() |

How to resize a photo using Windows Paint Please note that previously you were required to resize photos before you upload them. Unless your photos is over 10 MB, you will not be required to resize it anymore as the forum software is now set to do this automatically. If you are getting a message your photos is too large to upload, follow the steps below to resize it. There are many types of software that can resize photos, but all Windows computers have Paint. So I will take you through the process step by step on how to resize a photo with paint. To open paint, go to your start menu, select programs, then accessories, and you will see the paint icon listed. Click the paint icon. Step 1 When Paint has opened, go to the menu at the top left hand corner. Select open to find your photo. ![]() Step 2 Navigate through your computer to find the photo you wish to resize. Select that photo. ![]() Step 3 Your screen should now have your photo you wish to resize in it. If not, repeat the above steps to get the correct photo. ![]() Step 4 On the top menu near the left size, there is a button called "resize" (circled in red in the photo below). Click this button. ![]() Step 5 Click the button for "pixels" as circled in red. Make sure the check mark is the "Maintain aspect ratio" box (blue circle). If not, click it. ![]() Step 6 Go to the box that has the larger number, either vertical or horizontal. In our example, horizontal was 1200, so I selected that box. Now, delete the number in that box as shown below. ![]() Step 7 Enter in a number that is 999 or smaller. I suggest using 800. This is shown in the red circle. The other number, circled in blue, will automatically fill in once you enter in the first number. Click OK and your photo is now resized. ![]() Step 8 Now you must save the new resized photo. Click Save As and then type in a new file name, circled in red. Make sure you save it as a jpeg, but selecting that file type from the drop down menu, as circled in blue. Type a new file name, and then click save and your file is now saved and ready to upload to the forum. WARNING: You must click "save as" and select a new file name. Clicking save or using the same file name will overwrite your original high resolution photo. ![]() |
