So I got the Torino fired up. Still many things to do, one of which is the front clip. I have cleaned all the parts, performed some rust abatement on the fenders.
What is the recommended order of reassembly for the front end? The inner fenders and core support are on now. I have the front clip and fenders to put on. Any recommendations and tips/tricks are very welcome. |

...Thats where I am at right now with mine....putting the front clip back on...my inner fenders and core support are on now as well.....I started with the fenders w/ headlight buckets, will do the grill next (to help keep the fenders square and some what aligned) and then the hinges and finally the hood.
Since I am a one man operation here, I am going to have the body/paint shop do the final, fine tuned, alignment

see bryan, you're getting body work experience already! nothing like "hands on training" ![]() i think the 72 is a little different than mine and scott's cars the header panel would need to be on first because the grill bolts through the header and headlight assemblies through little slots |

1973-'76 are far easier to dismantle and assemble. Some tricks that I have learned:
Try to resist assembling the entire header/trim/headlight/mouldings/grill assembly and then pick it up to move it by yourself. The trim bends easily. ![]() Mount the bumper/metal center filler last, if you have guards. The end rubber fillers need to be mounted with the lower headlight trim at the same time. Bumper guards add to the issues, lol. The grill and grill trim are the most delicate parts. Flimsy, brittle, and very unforgiving - especially the grill tabs. |

Scott, when I put the GTS back together:
Install radiator support leave bolts a bit loose. Work on fender to door gaps. Install hinges and hood after squaring up things: Have shop dog inspect work: stand back and go SEXY!! Stare at pile of trim. And all the back up trim you have: Don't forget new radiator support bushings: Sit back again and enjoy staring at your car: Well, that's my car. Off my koolaid!! lol |

and remember...
hang your door and adjust the gaps on the BACK EDGE. The door gaps fit to the body of the car and THEN the front fenders adjust to get the front gap correct. DO NOT move the doors to align with the front fenders. This is why the core support has shims and there is so much play in the fender mounting. Remove a shim or add a shim to get a good door gap top to bottom.

Is the core support bushing the Chevy type? Did you use them for your entire car?

Very good thread. Now I am going to pull the damaged parts off myself to add to the paint money.

Are the radiator support bushings readily available? Are the bushings all the same on the body?
