Kickdown rod question

edelbrock carb or intake manifold?  if you are talking carb there is a special adapter you need to get.    the rods can be bent some.  i dont think the end bushings are sold serperate, but maybe you can make something universal work.

here is a pic of my 351w/fmx in my 73. sorry its still crusty from the fire. but it is the stock fmx kickdown rod, i just bent it to work, and yes it has full travel.

have never needed one of the extensions to make it work on a holley or an edelbrock/carter carb and i've had them hooked to both style carbs.

No problem.  Sometimes that just happens.

Sorry for bumping an old post...but this picture right here explains 95% of the problem with me not being able to attach the kickdown cable to my Edelbrock carb on this 351C.

When this mechanic attached my Ford throttle linkage to the Edelbrock carb, he put the kickdown part in UPSIDE DOWN so it can't reach, even with the adapter. I have now bent the heck out of the kickdown rod and I'm hoping with this new information that I can UNbend the heck out of the kickdown rod so I can install it properly, and without this $9 adapter I bought. Maybe someone else will need an Edelbrock 8011 adapter and I can PIF it to them now.

Edit: nope, I'm wrong again. Looks like you've got the 1483 adapter on your linkage. That must be what I need to make this work.

That's exactly what I think will have to be done. As it is, the bracket on the Edelbrock intake is too far towards the passenger side as installed. I may be able to bend it down towards the drivers side valve cover. Mechanic installed the throttle cable kind of sideways so I need to fix that for clearance as well. It won't quite fit in the slot as is so after bending it ought to fit nice. 351M throttle cable wants to be higher and more towards the drivers side and this should make it happier as well. Last thing I need is for it to bind while I'm going 70 down the road headed towards a small town with tractors crossing the road.

If you have a welder, just tweak the rod and add an inch or two to it.
