Hey gang! So I'm about done getting all of the parts from my donor (both 72s) and last thing will be taking out the power booster and pedal assembly. Is there anything I should prep for trying to convert the manual brakes on the main car? Saw some posts and a little confused where I read some hole may need to be drilled but wasn't sure how it was worded. I am aware I have to send the booster to be rebuilt as well. Thanks!

if you have a complete donor car you just need to use the power brake pedal with the power brake master & booster. the pivot pin hole in the pedals is different manual / power. are you aware, at least i believe the entire pedal hanger bracketry system is also different? the power brake pedal hanger takes into account the space taken up by the manual brake firewall adapter, at least that's the way it looks to me ...

I had no clue on the swap, so that's why I was curious. I knew I needed the pedal and booster/master cylinder. I have not ran into a post on any hanger.  Simple thing? Otherwise, just a bolt on essentially and nothing to modify?

that's what i'm thinking, i'm stalled at this point in my power brake / auto transmission to manual brake / manual transmission swap, maybe 1 of these years i'll get something done. get your pedal hanger assy's out and compare the distance to the firewall at the master cylinder bolts

I got some more info from a group page. Hopefully this will help some others down the road. This is in addition to the obvious use of the pedal assembly and power booster and new proportioning valve.

Manual brake will have an aluminum spacer between pedal bracket you will need to take out and use the  power pedal bracket which also holds the steering column.

yes the aluminum spacer is what i referred to as the 'manual brake firewall adapter' in my post above, this spacer is the reason i think the pedal hanger bracketry is different.
also my pic above shows the different location of the master cylinder rod connecting point to the pedal

Do any holes need to be drilled to accommodate the power brake master cylinder/booster setup? I swear I read something here about the holes needed but searching I can't find it. Maybe I'm crazy but it's stuck in my head I read that.

Also I'm assuming once that adaptor is removed, nothing replaces it, correct?

i think the hole you read about is the relocating of the pivot point on the brake pedal?

the booster should fill the void left by removing the spacer.
i'd seal the firewall / booster connection with RTV or similar

Just a shot in the dark as this is an old post. I am looking to swap my Torino from power to manual brakes. Would you be interested in selling all the manual brakes parts. Thanks,
Chris.
