My "ALT" light comes on.

   My alt light comes on while driving the Torino. I just replaced the voltage regulator because the alternator was drawing too many amps. There is an aftermarket stereo with 3 speakers connected. As well there is an aftermarket alarm system on the car. Upon purchasing the car I unplugged the alarm because it drained the battery in my Torino. I have not sorted out the wiring for that alarm yet or the stereo system either. 

In the past few days my radio has stared to not work while the car is on reverse. And once the car has been driven for a while the alt light will come on then go off after a few minutes. Now after that has happened a few times the light will stay on. 

Can anyone give me some insight into why this may be happening? To me it sounds like some faulty wiring.  Thanks for any help

	hard to say people screw around with wiring, hook things up wrong, the reverse thing is weird! check the voltage while running most parts stores should have a device like this for checking batterys but it will also show charging voltage! and usually its free to check

	I had my alternator tested and it was drawing 17.5amps with no load. And then 15.7 with a load. So they advised me to change the regulator.

	yeah thats too much. should be about 13.5-14.5
