Just want to talk about a situation I have had with the Ranchero MX. When the car was restored 4 years ago now. All the brake parts where replaced with what was "supposed" to high quality stuff. Unfortunately there has been nothing but quality issues with the drums and rotors. Also learned that the shop that did the wheel balancing didn't do their job right either! (talk about a string of bad luck) Anyway found some NOS. Drums from Green sales that are now working as they should (because they are round and not oval). The wheel balancing thing was squared away and all of this had made things better but not fixed ...yet! That is when the Front rotors (Wagner premium) where warped so bad that even without touching the brakes they where binding up causing the car to shake as it was driven down the road. So with some help from a member on Ranchero us I checked out these folks http://brakeperformance.com/brake-r...vP7iLlBVEJ2cz5pdZliP6kHNtuplaDjTpHRoCrv3w_wcB and found some slotted and dimpled front rotors. The car now drives and stops down the road as smooth as a new car!!! I would recommend theses brake rotors to anyone who is tired of the discount store Chinese crap!

  Dan,
Glad to hear you got it sorted out, I do remember the drums were a "hard to find" item for you a while back. I hate it when I have to go back over or correct someone's work who is "supposed" to know what the heck they are doing. I have never used drilled and dimpled rotors, hope they give you a long service life. I have used drilled and slotted rotors and will never go back to regular OEM style rotors on any of my vehicles, in fact I like them so much, if my riding mower had disc brakes it would also have a set on it Wink. Hope the "string of bad luck" has ended.

I like the fact that they say their rotors are machined in their US facility, but I think 100% of rotors are cast in China right now. I would love to be corrected if I am wrong.

I try to find US-made parts when I can. Most Wagner ThermoQuiet pads are labeled made in USA, but I have not been able to find a rotor that is made anywhere but China.

I like updated rotors but why wouldn't you simply have the old rotors turned?  That's pretty standard brake maintenance.

Standard on a brand new set? The problem with turning an already warped set of rotors is they will work for about a week and then be warped again! The fact that these where NEW and warped almost right away tells me the material used is bad news and these are scrap!!! Now on a good set that has given you some good service and just need to be cut that is another thing altogether.

Guys...many moons ago when I worked for Autozone as a commercial parts guy, the region manager was discussing how they had their supplier pack up the casting equipment and literally ship it overseas to China.

Look at Vice Grip...this is an eternal sore subject for me.
A small Nebraska town, DeWitt, Nebraska home of American Tool whom invented the darn things got taken out in a hostile bid buyout by Rubbermaid, which owns Irwin Tools.

I used to sell them the machine tools and when i found out, it KILLED that town as they lost 400 god paying jobs.

Anyways, look at the quality of Vice Grips now. They are garbage. I can hunt down 20 year old vice grips, and it they have "dewitt nebraska" on the side, they are better than the new garbage.

I hunted down NORS new old replacement stock 11" drums for my 1976 9" axle. Old Rayobestos premium units.

If you found a good source, great to know.
Post up some pictures.

LOL Rubbermaid Vice-Grips... I can see why they wouldn't advertise that fact. LOL
