I’ve been a lurker for 2 weeks, been looking for a “good” forum dealing with Torinos. Two weeks ago my 38yo son txt me that he found a 72 Torino we should go look at!  It was only 10 miles from home so okay lets go, it was a SoCal car it’s whole life. Car was running just barely, but after pulling the plug a compression test showed 145/150 on all 8! This was a one family owned car father bought new and after his death, it was registered in the son’s name. Son pass approximately two + years ago, then the car was stored in a hanger at a local airport. Now for the details,
Gran Torino Sport, 429 4V, factory air, instrument group, bucket seats with console, power windows/door locks, power steering/ disc brakes, dark green metallic.
It’s now setting at my son’s house next to a ‘32 roadster, ‘85 Mustang SVO and a 2016 Chevy SS 6spd. My garage only has one, ‘66 Corvette Coupe 350hp/4spd #’s matching

Welcome to the forum!  You've been upgraded to a new member.  A 429-4V N-Code Torino is rare and cool.  Post some pics when you have a chance.  Post some of the Vette and your son's cars too.

The hunt is the most fun part. Anticipating the drive with trailer to load up these machines has to be one of the best feelings one can experience in their lifetime. Face it, once you have hit middle age interest wanes in lots of things but seems to grow for chasing these hard to come by rides.

It actually was resprayed by original owner  6 months after purchase, he didn’t like the original dark green metallic. It’s the med.green metallic, but after almost 50yrs it’s thin in places. My son is working on buffing what’s there out! For now the plan is clean it up, factory carb was junk, so spare FiTech is gonna be installed with MSD distributor.  Exhaust has been ordered, mag 500 rims with new tires sitting here. The interior and all window felts and gasket will be replaced, then we’ll decide on it’s future!
The story about the paint was from the daughter of the original buyer.
