Hello all. New to the page. Looking for info. if possible. I have a 1971 Torino (standard), 351C, C4 that I'm restoring (to an extent). The engine was rebuilt when I bought it and runs perfect. I had the tranny rebuilt and posi 3.25 put in the rear. I've redone the rear suspension, complete new front suspension using boxed lower arms and now I'm putting on power steering. I purchased '71 componentents (centerlink, pitman arm, idler are, etc.). I installed all the linkage and started to install the slave cylinder only to find it hit the headers...... hence my "brick wall". I removed the header and found it was the same model Hooker that is supposed to fit: # 6971. However, even with a header drop bracket there is no room for the slave cylinder to function when the linkage is moved left to right. Any other people run into this problem or have any ideas? Thanks for any ideas. I also have a painless wiring kit to install and seals

i dont have the answer you want to hear . headers are eye candy pains in the @$$ unless really needed and then you would not have weight and power robbing power steering . you could go back to manifolds that are really not very heavy and simplify everything .or scrap your p.s and use the manual steering adapter instead of that pita valve . if you bought the headers new take it up with the source .

Buddyboy,
I am in no means trying to steer you away from this site but...
That question is probably very quickly answered on a site like TorinoCobra.com or another site with members who have alot more experience with the pre 72 model Torinos.
Many members here are also members there as well.
This site is dedicated to the 72-79 model cars which are TOTALLY different than the 71 and older models. Many on this site have experience and even own other models here as well.
Just saying, the knowledge base here for the pre 72 body specific stuff is fairly limited.
good luck with your search for info Edited by cowboyupdjcarl - 13-February-2011 at 3:20PM |

Thanks, I'll try Torino cobra. I've already contacted Holley and they tested the header jig several times since production started on the headers in question. They have also test fit the headers on 71 Torinos w/ p.s. several times since then. Basically, the dude said there has to be a fitment issue on my end. Possibly different motor mounts 'etc. Thanks for trying and for pointing me to a 71'specific site
