I am trying to determine the transmission model and rear axle ratio on my '70 Torino GT Convertible.  The car has a VIN plate (#0H37M147749) but does not have the door data plate or vehicle certification label, where transmission and axle information is usually located.

Is there any way to determine these two things with the serial number of the vehicle alone  (that is, #147749)?

I have not taken the transmission or axle off the car yet, but I can't see anything just from looking from under the car that would identify the two pieces of hardware.

With respect to the transmission, I know it's an automatic but not Cruise-O-Matic (which has manual shifting capability).  But from what I understand, there were at least two different automatic transmissions offerred on the'70 Torino GT.

With respect to the axle, I know nothing.  Not the ratio, and not even whether it's LSD.  If the car weren't currently partially disassembled, I guess I could park one wheel on the grass, the other on the pavement, hit the gas and see what happens, but this wouldn't tell me anything about the ratio, and thus there would still be several models to choose from (I think there were multiple ratios of the LSD axles available).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
