Guy I know wanted the engine, but not the car.  We pulled it into my shop, pulled the motor, and he left the rest of it to me.  The engine pulled was a 73 429, but the car's VIN shows "Q".  The car has had multiple paint jobs, the last done with house paint and a brush!  The interior is missing the door panels, and has plexi for a back window!  Plans are for my D0VE headed 460 to be installed, strip all the paint, hot rod primer job, and whatever I can find for the trashed interior.  At least I have Ford motor mounts to bolt the 460 up.

Yessir, it is a Ranchero.  I have no idea what trim level, but it does have the full gauge package, including tach.  On its first repaint, all the emblems were removed, and the holes welded up.  The car has a large plate type tranny cooler, and 2 PS coolers.  The factory AC looks to be complete, but the fiberglass housing has some severe damage, probably from installing the 429.  The pumpkin has a casting date of 77, and no tag, so I will have to pull it to find out what I have back there.

Welcome to GTS.org.

It was probably a GT if it had the 351-CJ and gauge package. Has the door jamb data plate been painted over?

The door jamb sticker is still legible.  It also has the am/fm stereo, and it works!  The body is solid, except for a rust hole in the drivers door, and there is a huge glob of what I think is bondo, on the lower pass fender, behind the tire.  Car was last tagged in AZ, in 95.  The driver fender was yellow, at some point, but the car was blue, originally.

Welcome, I too have a '73 Q code Ranchero. Sometime in it's life the Cobra Jet was replaced with a '71 429 w/ DOVE  numbers, that appear to all match. My Ranch. is a ''500"  model with body protection group, convienience light pkg., sport instrument pkg. 3.25 rearend, dog dish hubcaps w/trim rings & factory A/C. I've owned mine since 1987, plan to re-do it all someday, but right now it's a running projectErmm

Where can I go to decode the doorjamb sticker?  This rig is gonna sit all winter, till it warms back up.  Winters here in Colorado, at 7800 elev are pretty dang brutal.

Go to The Torino Page  at http://www.grantorinosport.org" rel="nofollow - www.grantorinosport.org then click on models in the menu box at the upper left corner, click on Ranchero. If that doesn't work, post the info off the sticker & Myself or someone can decode it for you.
