Hi everybody,
As some of you know, I'm rebuilding a 73 Mustang Mach one 351 Cobrajet to put in my car.
Originally it was a 2v Cleveland and C4 trans. I have the opportunity to buy a workingC6. It seems that the bolt pattern  of the bell housing is very similar but not exactly.

What I would like to know is if the gear would suit my engine/rear axle and car.
The trans came from a 79 F150.
Already thanks for your answers.
Dan
First picture is the C6 next is my original C4

the bolt pattern looks different, what motor was in the truck that it came from?

Ditto, you need a small block C6, which are tougher to find.

C4 is lighter too.. why not just build up the C4? If you find a C6 it's going to need modified to make it feel nice anyways right? At least a new torque converter.

It's just what I was thinking.. don't want to steer you in the wrong direction though.

Hi, thanks for all your answers. This has make me save money.
My first idea was to reuse the original C4. It has only 80000 mlx, and works as new.
This is an idea to build it up.  I will ask somebody here who knows very well a mercian transmissions.
Many thanks for your help.
Dan.
