Has anyone ever come across a 460 H pipe like this.............

What I find crazy is the gussets where the crossover pipe intersects the exhaust manifold to muffler pipe. Is this factory????

I don't think any of these cars had an H-pipe from the factory. That seems to be more of an 80s thing with Ford.

According to the Illustrated Parts Catalog they did...... I'll attach a copy of the catalog page from work tomorrow. Mine had a similar H pipe but no gussetting!

CJ cars in 1972 (at least) had the H pipe. I still have a couple of originals set aside.

H pipes don't impact power like advertisements suggest. They do affect sound a decent amount.

The only proper place to locate a cross over, for power, is close behind the collectors(drag racers test for that spot with paint on a test run). That's basically impossible to do because it's right where the transmission is, so any pipe would hang down to low under the pan.

Install a cross over for sound improvement, and strength, not for power. It does provide a minute amount of a new flow path(reduce restriction), but as small as people make them, it's insignificant. Make the cross over as large as possible if at all.

None of mine do. However, I would guess as the years progressed, they may have added them for reinforcement.
