I need to add a real temp sensor for my electric fan, to replace the temporary one I am using that just has a probe that goes in the radiator fins. It works, but was always intended just to get the car on the road until I could do it right.

Seeing as these engines have a dry intake I am really out of ideas.

The only one I really have is to add a sensor into the upper radiator hose. Not thrilled with the idea, it looks cheap, but if that is the only way I will have to do that. I do have the adapter thing that you cut the hose and put this in the middle already and a BMW 2 temp sensor, since I have the 2 speed Lincoln fan.

I've heard about doing it in the heater hose, but I am not too sure about that. If the heater isn't on, does the coolant still flow in the hoses?

Anyone have any ideas on how to add one to the engine itself, or that has done the heater hose version? When I first started this I didn't know about the dry intake. Thought it would be easy to just tap into it. CryDead

Thanks,
Russ

I run dual electric cooling fans with two separate Derale controllers and I installed a "T" (to allow the secondary fan's sensor to be installed) in my heater hose that leads to the heater core using parts sourced from Lowes due to them being metal and not plastic, works great and I have had no issues with it. I will tell you I use adjustable temp controllers and the senders do not have to be grounded to work correctly. The black iron "T" I used has the straight through portion of the fitting with brass 5/8" heater hose barb fittings installed and the 3rd leg came with 3/8" NPT that needed no adapter for the Derale sender. Prior to installation you can prime and paint the "T" fitting black to be much less noticeable. Hope this helps.

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires.

Thanks.
That could work.
Think my BMW sensor is metric, but I can work around that.

I have the EFI sensor by the thermostat, and a second sensor for a gauge in the water pump. Reading differ by 3-5 generally (water pump reads a bit cooler).
