| I recently acquired a 72 torino sport 4spd and bench seat from factory wonder how rare this option is. Any help would be appreciated has 73k miles on it also its a Q code car |

If it is a fastback 4 speed car , there were 2091 Fastback 4 speeds. Welcome to the forum! The best numbers we have for a Q-code at the numbers listed above. A Marti report might be able to break down the number that came with a bench seat. Regardless, you have a pretty rear version of the '72 GTS. I upgraded you to a full member, so post some pics when you have a chance. | ok guys I got the torino running after sitting for 20yrs now it wont move when in gear and clutch released where should I start looking for what is wrong common issues. All help appreciated thanks in advance |

i just looked at your pics again... yes it's a stick! are you sure it's actually going into a gear? are the shift rods all connected? is the driveline connected? try all the gears see if it tries to move in any gear??? do you hear any parts spinning, grinding, anything?

Have you moved the car from that spot at all? From the sound of it, You may have either a broken input or output shaft, or a toasted clutch. I had a car stolen years ago with a 4 speed, and when I got it back(after only 80 additional miles on the odo!), the car wouldn't move under it's own power. If You can support the car completely on jackstands, try this; Looking at the thoughtfully provided diagram, look for the rod that goes to the clutch fork(7515 on the lower part of the diagram, coming out of the bellhousing). It should adjust like a turnbuckle, making it longer or shorter. Shorten it up by just about a quarter of an inch(yes, really). Start the motor and just let it idle, then put it in 1st and try to engage the clutch and spin the rear wheels, IDLING The engine. If they spin now, figure on replacing the clutch. | have two 4 speed cars. one is a factor bench seat car. If you jack the car up,and put a wrench on the sh*t bolts on the trans side to check for movement.The trans may stuck in neutral. or the shifter may be sliding on the stock rods.They are are slotted. |

| ok so I started the car and put it in 4th gear and got a very faint grind when I released the clutch it went away when I pressed clutch again. Maybe just need to replace clutch? |

idk something weird going on there i'd check the things others said!!! also if you have a helper have them step on the clutch while you look under there at the clutch rods see it they move? you can do this without it running. then have them shift gears without it running watch the shift rods see if they are moving? with the stands under the axle.. set the e-brake with the shifter in neutral not running see if you can turn the driveline? if that all checks out ok then you may need to pull the tranny and check from there ...shaft or clutch... ------------- JOHN 74 GRAN TORINO S&H CLONE 74 VETTE CUSTOM 90 S10 BLAZER 4X4 LIFTED 77 CELICA CUSTOM 75 V8 MONZA SUPERCHARGED 79 COURIER VERT. | ok guys so think it's the spider gears in the rear and the clutch just going to replace all new. But I have a new ? Are there any new style mustang wheels that will fit my torino and film the wheel well. I like some of the new stock wheels just wondering if maybe the 2013 and newer or older mustang wheels would work. |

| Use a selfie stand and take a video of your transmission linkages while going through the pattern. Then watch the video. The shifter has an alignment hole to put a rod in so the link rods can be correctly asjusted. Hurst shifter? |
