In need of a bit of some trouble shooting help.. I'm reinstalling new wiring and I was testing the turn signals. The front and back lights light up but do not flash. I have new bulbs and new flasher fuses.

Any ideas??

Thanks Tom

basically keyed power goes into one terminal of the flasher, the other term. of the flasher goes to the common input to the turn sig. switch! as you move the switch to one side it draws power through the flasher and also disconnects the brake light on that side so it can flash only that side allowing the opposite brake light to still operate. if that makes sense? also check that the hazard 4 way isnt engaged... sometimes that can mess things up if not wired all correctly Confused

another thought... if all the lights are lighting correctly but not flashing... are you running all new LED bulbs??? if so you'll need a no-load LED flasher as led's don't draw enough current to heat up a standard flasher Wink

What if the break light are not hooked up yet? Will that cause the problem?

hmm i don't think that should matter since they use the same wire and element in the bulb... as you said the lights light up both front and rear but don't flash

was that while car running or not?  I’ve had vehicles in the past, and many bikes this way.... it must be running for the correct resistances to trip the flashers.  Just something to consider——

Right now the car does not run. But if we are getting full power and the light do light up nice and bright in front and in back I would think there is enough power. ???

Putting a test bulb (1157?) between the flasher output and ground would help eliminate a few possibilities if the bulb flashes.

it sounds like you bypassed the flasher somehow in your wiring???
