Hello,

Could anyone recommend a good trickle charger for battery? Thinking I should get one. Also, a while away but what are some things that should be done before a vehicle is actually driven again in the spring? Fluid check/make sure battery is still good. What should be looked at?

Thanks!

Something automatic is what you want. I disconnect my battery when I get in the garage and leave the charger on it. Can't think of the brand but I believe it was at O'Reilly's and inexpensive.

My lawn tractor has the Harley-D tender I kept when I sold my bike. Replaced the battery only once in 15 years.

I have a couple of Battery Tender brand chargers and recommend them.  They work great, and have a long warranty.  I remove my batteries and leave them on the Tender all winter.  Even in the driving season, I will put the tender on if I know the car will be sitting for a while before I drive it again.

There are lots of other brands out there, and I am sure others are good too.  Just make sure you use a batter maintainer, not a battery charger.

Currently maintaining 22 batteries, lead/acid, GEL, deep cycle, AGM. Car, boat, trailer, & golf cart. I use BatteyMinder products. You can maintain up to six batteries on one charger, they have temperature control, and they are all smart chargers. I've had std. car batteries last 11 years with this system.
