Hi Has anyone replaced the speaker in the dash on a 72 torino? Does it remove from the top or bottom? Thats what I am trying to determine. If I have to remove the dash pad or can it be removed from underneath. Had some audio work done on car and they could not get to the speaker from under the dash to replace it. The way it fastens into the bracket, I’m pretty sure you have to get it from the top. There’s one for sale on eBay that shows how it fastens in. You'll absolutely have to access it from pulling the dash pad because of where the hold-down bolts are. I had a dual voice coil 6x9 sitting around, but it's too deep -- the magnet hits the stuff below it and keeps it from going into place. I was able to use a pair of 4-inch round speakers instead on the same speaker holder. ------------- 1972 Gran Torino station wagon, light blue, 351C 2V, prior owner upgraded to 4V (2V heads), originally had a C4 but prior owner changed to C6 for some reason. |
