I was looking through the December Hemmings Motor News and saw that Volo was advertising a black ‘76 Torino with a S&H stripe, saying it is 1 of 137 black cars. I’ve never seen one before. Does anyone know about this?

I saw that same car on another site. Unless I read the advertisement incorrectly, the black on black with those options was the limited number and the stripe was a special order.

All factory S&H cars were red.  I think Steve is right, that's probably the Marti report numbers for black on black cards.

I think all factory s and h cars were painted  white stripe first  then painted 2-B red .  The stripe would bleed pink when sprayed   over red , every 74-76 car of any color is in danger of getting that stripe . better black on black delete the  stripe

There were a couple of hundred 2B red cars that came through with no stripe in 1976. I  posted the Marti report on  my car on the Marti report thread. From what I've heard,  some of these cars got the stripe from either season 1 or season 2-4 cars applied at the dealer or were done at a body and paint shop. The buyers didn't like the factory stripe.  I believe John Q had one of those on his site. The dealership applied the stripe after the car was delivered. There might be a few left out there. Don't know about mine as it was repainted before I got it.

According to the on-line listing, the Starsky stripe is a DECAL.....
