I'm putting my Torino drivetrain back together and down to the last few items. Sitting next to my starter and flexplate cover was this bracket. For the life of me I could not remember where this came from! After an hour of test fitting, I think I convinced myself it's a support bracket for the column shifter. It would bolt into the bell housing if my picture is correct. If this is the case, should there be some grommet or clip where the shifter linkage penetrates the bracket? Or is this not the right application for this bracket? Confused

If it is there's a bushing missing from the looks of it.
