Hello all, nick here again. Im currently doing steering work on my 73 GTS and noticed my pitman shaft and input shaft seals are leaking, im looking to find seals for my steering box but dont know if its a ford steering box or a sagnaw box. What are the differences, how do I tell which one I have? Once im done with all my steering work, ill make another post here and list part numbers and how I went about things. Thanks!

The Ford steering box input rotary shaft assembly is held to the case by 4 bolts, the Saginaw unit is formed into the case. The top of the Saginaw sector shaft is held into the gear housing with an aluminum cover using 4 bolts, the Ford unit uses a cast iron cover with 2 bolts to hold it into the gear housing. Hope this helps

Yeah, It's a Hybrid...It burns gas and tires.

Thank you! In that case, it seems I have a ford steering box. Do the two boxes use the same input shaft and pitman/sector shaft seals? Im guessing so but I do not know.

They're different of course. Even the steering coupler(rag joint assembly) is different.

Side note, pitman arm for the Ford box seems un-obtanium new.

I am working with a vendor for reconditioning these.

Currently dealing with Glen at Rare parts and getting samples from folks to send in.
They show they can replace the pivot stud in the forging, so we have hopes to be able to resolve this lack of new parts.
