Working on a 400-2v. It has water pump, alternator, and P/S pump.

I want to eliminate the P/S pump (going to convert to manual steering).

Right now the inner groove on the crank pulley drives the water pump
and the P/S pump, the outer crank pulley groove drives only the alternator.

My goal is one belt to drive crank / water pump / alternator.

I don't know if this was ever a stock OEM  combination on a 400.
Essentially what I need is:

1.) A shorter water pump pulley, which would then align with the crank / alt.

2.) A spacer behind the W/P pulley to bring it out to align with the crank / alt.

Is anybody here hip on pulleys, like, are all 351-C / 400 / 429-460 pulleys
pretty similar ? Maybe even Windsor pulleys, I don't know.

does your 400 happen to have the water pump spacer between the timing cover & the water pump?

If it was me...I would look to CVF Racing in their V belt parts offering.

TBH, I know I have this alternator bracket kit sitting around from my first kit I ever bought from them.
Edit:
Kit was for the alternator for a 351C. Can't say for sure belt and pulleys on the 400 however bracket as far as I am aware would be the same?

But for $325 for a complete kit...saves a lot of headaches and you get everything you need to run an alternator and have simple belt adjustment.

Thank you gents.
That spacer thing is news to me, never seen that. I wonder the reason ?
The CVF stuff is really nice, it might come to that.

I’ve been pleased with their Beast system. Bracket setup is nice, adjustability is great and easy to do.

If you were near by, I’d dig out the alt bracket kit and send your way to test fit. 351C and 400 should be the same, but belts were different as far as I am aware due to the taller deck height of the 400.
