Hello all, Nick B here. I am going for the old hot rod stance for my car and want to lower my front end a few inches. In the rear I have progressive rate springs and gabriel highjacker air shocks and im happy with that but I think the front end is a little too high as there is a big ol gap between the top of the tire and the lip of the wheel well. Ive already gone through the front end with all new bushings, ball joints, etc and kept the factory springs.

I think I faintly remember hearing someone say that crown vic springs should fit right in and give a 2 inch drop but I am not 100% sure on that as that memory is a little hazy now. I plan on dropping the front 2 inches or so because I want get rid of the gap in the front. What have yall done to lower your front ends? My car is a 73 Gran torino sport fastback q code.

Cut the factory springs? Get custom ones? What do yall recommend?

Hey Nick, on my car I ordered springs from Eaton spring and their recommendation was to cut to my desired height. I believe it was 1 coil removed was equal to 1".

For original springs you may want to be a bit more conservative and go with trial and error to get your desired height.

i'd cut 1/2 a coil to start and see where it sits, and A 1/4 coil at a time after that

2" is quite a bit, you don't want to cut the spring so short that the spring is loose at full droop

Rockatansky is correct here, if you look at my project thread my car is 1.25" lower in the front than factory. 2" would be a big drop.

Cutting springs is an easy way to lower the car, but start small. I recommend upgrading the spring rate as the stock springs on these cars were marshmallows unless you had HD or competition suspension.
