| My 69 Ranchero has the hood latch stuck closed. Pull the handle and no disengagement. Is there a known solution? Thank you. |

| Unbolting the latch brace was not successful, all of the bolts spun. Solution; unbolt the latch striker bar forward bolt and saw through the bar. Hood opens! Now I need a new bar. |

Try to apply some downward pressure on the front of the hood as you pull the handle. Mine used to stick occasionally when I got it and that would work. I have since lubed up the moving parts and slightly adjusted the catch and it works good now. If that fails, you can remove the grill to access latch a bit. Thats a PITA. | Thank you for the suggestion. Sawed through the latch bar, opened hood and removed latch. Turns out the latch was damaged as a small piece fell out. New latch bar was only available as part of next higher assy, now out of stock. Made a new piece from 7/16 dia. steel using blacksmithing techniques. New latch and new striker bar, now works like new. |
