| Hello, I have a family history with the 71 torino (grandparents had one and i learned to drive on it) and just picked up a 71 gt convertible. It's been in a barn for many years and has significant underside rust issues. Im looking for a supplier of underside steel panels for this car and would also like to stiffen the unibody by reinforcement of the underside (adding steel front to back like I've seen done on mustang unibodies). Does anyone know if a supplier that has a sheetmetal kit for these second Gen convertibles? Excited to get started on it. |

Check out Auto Metal Direct (AMD) website. They recently started to make replacement sheet metal for the 68-71 models, including full floors. https://www.autometaldirect.com/body-components/floor/floor-pans" rel="nofollow - Body Components - Floor - Floor Pans There's also a guy on e bay selling weld in subframe connectors as well. The convertibles also had underneath reinforcement brackets. Welcome aboard! The 1971 Torino convertibles are very rare, so definitely worth saving. I have upgraded you to a new member so you have full forum privileges. Unfortunately, while unibody Torinos share much of there DNA with Mustangs, the part supply for one is much more limited. AMD is a good start, but some stuff is likely not reproduced and will have to be fabricated. What are you talking about for adding steel front to rear? Like sub fram connectors? | Thanks so much for the twin torino article. Thats exactly what I'd like to do to mine. I don't have the ability to put it up on a rotisserie so this is going to be a fun job on my back under the car (I'm getting too old for this!) |
