Hi my name is Davin I'm new to the forum as I stumbled across it while researching parts for my car, which is a carribean blue/polar white 1968 mercury montego with the 302 and c4 automatic.

The car has been everything to me since I bought it at the start of June 2025, I am proud with that to say it's the car I drove to my high school graduation. After that it came along for family vacation on our 1,200km road trip and was the best thing i could have driven for it, at one point I had to use seal all on a pinprick hole on the top of the gas tank in the hotel parking lot, later that summer I was also able to camp with my friend and his 68 Pontiac Catalina were we slept on the bench seats.

And now i'm hoping to start driving it again once the snow is off the ground where I live, but it usually still stays cool for a while after that. Though I've been absolutely itching to drive it again.

I happened to stumble across the forum here while finding how to replace the heater core and how to go about that.

Can't wait to learn more about the cars here and the people as well

Welcome to the forum!  Nice to see another young person getting involved in the old car hobby.  Tell us some more about your Montego?  Is it a 2-door or 4-door?  Formal or fastback?  I have upgraded you to new forum member so you have full forum privileges.  As you may know, the Montego is sister car to the Torino/Fairlane of the same years.  So while most of our forum info is for Torinos, much of it also applies to the Montego.

It's a 4 door formal, 180,000 original miles on the engine and transmission, at some point before I owned it it was repainted the numbers matching 2 tone colors of carribean blue with the a-pillars, roof, and b-pillars in polar white. Over a navy leather interior. Previous owners also installed an electric fan to the radiator and a new transmission cooler as where I live we will see up to 110 Fahrenheit in very mountainous terrain. Outside of when there's snow on the ground I've been driving it as my everyday car which it is absolutely amazing for

Sounds like a great old car to try to turn into a daily driver.  Keep it away from the snow and salt and it should lat you many years.  Any plans for the car other than enjoying it?  Feel to start any new threads if you need help with the car.

Would love seeing a picture of that Montego! Those 4 door formal sedans were pretty good looking. Being familar with the area you are in...my parents retired in Vernon about 20 years ago and yes, it does get hot there. Two years ago I drove my 78 LTD ll to the Sun Valley event from Alberta in Vernon for Canada Day. Beautiful drive through the Rockies but I sure kept my eye on the temp gauge. It was a hot and sticky drive.

Welcome to the forum and maybe this year, I'll see you at the Sun Valley event in Vernon in July !
