Hi everybody. I just registered here because I purchased a 1979 Ranchero last week in Phoenix. I'm from Canada around Ottawa and I've always been a car guy and I have a strong tendency to Ford cars and trucks.

I am a certified mechanic who worked in Ford dealerships for some years and then switched to teaching mechanic for 23 years. The list of cars I've owned is too long to list. My prefered Ranchero models are the 70-71 and 77-79. I opted for a 79 because they ride much smoother with their full frame.

My ranchero is a rustfree car still wearing it's orginal Ford paint. It still shows very well and I intend to keep it like that.

I tried to upload a picture but it didn't work.

I forgot to say I flew to Phoenix and jumped in the car with a friend and drove it back home 2700 miles, 7 days with no problem at all. The car has 93k miles now.

Welcome to the forum Claude!  You weren't able to upload photos because you were a probationary member.  I have upgraded you to a new member and you now have full forum privileges and can upload photos.

The Ranchero sounds great.  What engine and transmission does it have?  Nice to see another Canuck, I am a few hours from Ottawa.
