Member of our club has a 69cauger 351. He said its an early w. Its org motor.What family is it from.

90* family. early 351W's use a deck height measurement of 9.48", increased to 9.503" in 1970

Yes I am trying to figure out ford as I own 3. My engine book said never confuse a 351w with the intrum 351 69-70. only bore and stroke the same.

what book is that?

only 'big deal' difference i know of is the deck height. and that only matters if you're building a custom engine or stroker from catalog parts because the stack height might end up hitting the head

it's called a Clevor, Edelbrock is currently making intakes for both the 302 and 351W blocks with Cleveland 2V heads

the Cleveland head comes from the Boss 302 which debuted in 1969 and has roots in XE, ASK and SK parts going back several years earlier, Bunkie Knudson wasn't there while the development took place for years prior. he was only there from Jan 1968 to Sept 1969...

i get all spun around reading the conjecture lore of how the Cleveland came to be... but from piecing some of it together that kinda makes sense i think Bunkie may have 'stolen' the heads from Ford Engineering and may have had some input with the block?

why would a 'clean slate' project that the Cleveland would be, if it were Bunkie Knudson's baby, have the same head bolt pattern and valve arrangement as an existing and internally competetive Ford engine?

i say the patterns were already in the works when Bunkie came on the scene, he just altered the coolant flow path to suit his block. if Bunkie never turned up at Ford the Cleveland heads would have been bolted to Windsor blocks
