Running 351c 4v and want to change cam. Looking at .509 lift, exh dur 286, int dur 276. Offy 4v intake, holley 730, stock exh manifolds, automatic, stock converter, 9" 3.0 rear. I dont really like headers. Mostly street. Anybody run any kind of a cam like this. Any suggestions.Smile

What is the duration @50 214-218? Nice mild cam more like a rv fuel saver that should work well with your combo. What are you trying to accomplish?

Duration @ 50 is 218 intake, 228 exhaust. Stock cam if I am not mistaken is intake 420 lift, exh 460 lift, duration intake 268, exh 280. I would like a little more go, or get as much as I can with the setup I have.

It sounds like a pretty good combo for a little extra hp without serious mods, if you have roller rockers you could go up in lift, what distributor are you running?

Cam Research has cut many of mine and work great in all applications from street to strip.

Then it should work good if you liked the way the mechanical advance worked with your current set up. Your rates of advance etc and shift ranges should remain the same with more ump HP in between shifts.

You need headers with that cam for it to run right. And maybe 3.25 gears atleast.

i'm gonna agree with 73GTS,
it may be just a shad too much for a stock converter, 3.00 gear & X-manifolds
 
racerky, what cam is in it now do you know, stock?
 
i had great results with the Comp High Energy 268H in my 73 with stock converter, 2.75 gear & log manifolds

I found at 272 duration I needed a stall converter ( Stock 1700 was about 500rpm short ). Watch your higher lifts too as you may need to change pushrods, Rockers and valve springs.
Cams advertise low rpm range if running a stock converter keep that number equal or lower than the factory converter stall of about 1500-1700 and all good.
