i have a 1970 torino gt daily driver: the other day driving home i gunned it a little through a belt and over heated made it home and discovered the water pump is shot other than replace it what should i do it make me nervous to drive it let alone be a daily

As long as it didn't get so hot that it caused obvious damage, like blown gaskets or cracked engine parts, you should be fine.   Check the oil to make sure you have no antifreeze in it.  You could just do an oil change, as the excess heat may have diminished your oil's life expectancy.
