I am starting a new thread that will highlight a member's car once a month. Every month I will select one member's car at random. If you want your car to be selected as the Ride of the Month, be sure to post some good quality photos of your car on the forum. Photos posted in Project Threads or the Photo section are most likely to get selected, especially if you include some details/background on your car. I will try to select cars from all different generations, condition and body styles.
The first Ride of the Month is Wallster's 1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport formal roof. His car is one of 201 1973 GTS formals that is equipped with an 429-4V N-code engine. It also has the Rallye equipment group package, bucket seats, console with floor shift and air conditioning. Check out more pics of this cool Torino click here.

Great Idea! This is cool. Do you want everyone to comment on the cars or just let the cars do the talking?

Thank you! I'm honored to be the first (especially with so many other Gran Torino's that I've seen on this great forum!) I love the idea of showcasing all these awesome cars!

I am glad you guys like the idea. Comments are always welcome in the thread. As time goes on, we should have a good gallery of cars in this thread.

The only issue I see is with cars not in pristine condition being left out. There are plenty that would get the nod over time. This is going to end up as an epic thread.

Agreed. Great idea, Vince! To your other point, if a member is active and making some sort of progress to share, I'd expect it to have a chance to pop up in this thread. And I'm not just saying that because mine is currently an anchor

It's a great idea. Lots of the best project cars will get more attention, and it should motivate some people a lot.

FWIW, my intention is to include all cars in the running, from projects to daily drivers to show stoppers.

Now that is one fine GTS! Formal roof, 6F gold glow metallic, looks like ginger or tobacco interior, oh and an N code 429! Yes the perfect Torino! And the perfect car for the inaugural Ride-of-the-Month. Or could I be biased?

The May 2021 Car of the Month is long time member "72GTS351CJ" Rick's 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport fastback "Clint Eastwood Special."
Rick's Torino has a custom built 393C stroker with Aussie heads, an eagle crank and rods, 10:1 compression and hydraulic roller cam It puts out about 450 hp. His car also has a 4-speed toploader and a gear vendors overdrive unit to help with the highway cruising. I have seen this car in person and it is an awesome Torino. Here it is at Carlisle in 2018: To see the full details on his car, check out Rick's project thread. It's a great read. |

Excellent pick and pics. It was the first car that came to mind for the second month's winner. I have a feeling the next month will feature something red.
