Thanks guys, happy and surprised, it's an honor for it to be chosen. It's a lower mileage (~64k) semi-survivor that sat from '88 until '15. It was re-painted its factory color and made road worthy by the guy I got it from in '15. Have been trying to detail it as best I can in the garage. Here's a few more pics:
![]() ![]() It's in the midst of water and fuel pump changes (both original) and got the rad re-cored while it is all apart. Cleaned and painted a bit more while apart as well. I'm literally going out to the garage after I post this to try and figure out the dang AC & PS brackets to have it running for a cruise tomorrow. ![]() ![]() Edited by schufitz - 05-August-2022 at 8:12AM |

The September 2022 Car of the Month is member "Sprielgel's " (Chris's) 1973 Ford Gran Torino 2-door hardtop. Chris's Torino has a H-Code 351 Cleveland 2V engine, with a FMX transmission and 2.75 gears. Painted in Medium Copper Metallic this beautiful and unique '73 is equipped the the Luxury Decor package. This package included a special brown "halo" vinyl roof, colour keyed body rear bumper trim and wheel covers, a
flight bench seat in tan super soft vinyl with matching door panels,
deluxe 2-spoke steering wheel, wood tone instrument panel applique, dual
note horn, 25-oz cut-pile carpet, and upgraded insulation. The car also has power disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning, tinted glass, dual sport mirrors, AM radio, clock and a the California Emissions package. This Torino originally was owned by Chris's late sister and he said it was her favourite car. His father also owned a '73 Torino very similar to this when he was young. So this Torino is certainly special to Chris. Chris has been slowly restoring and detailing his Torino. Check out his build thread to see more information about his car, some old pictures of his Dad's car and the work he has done fixing his Torino. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's his Dad's original Torino: ![]() ![]() |

Thank you so much for my sister's car being selected as the "Ride of the Month", it is an honor and means more than you know to my family and I. This was my sister's, Becky (Bek) Spriegel's favorite car. I am so glad that after her passing, we made the decision to keep the Torino and get it running again. I am so grateful for finding this forum - it's a wealth of information, but also a great group of members and I've made many friendships. Thank you again for this selection everyone! -Chris Here is a photo of my sister. ![]() |

The October 2022 Car of the Month is member "brandonc's " (Brandon's) 1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport 2-door hardtop. Brandon's '73 2-door fastback Torino is a project car, and it remains a work in progress. Despite Brandon starting with a midwest car that was far from rust free, he has used his metal fabrication skills to bring this Torino back to life. His plan is to use a 4.6L and 4R70W transmission from a late model Crown Victoria. He hopes to use his car as his daily commuter, to drive his 90 mile per day commute. Brandon has done a lot of great work on this car, including replacing the floors, fabbing a new trunk floor, replacing the quarter, converting to a 1972 front end and getting the 4.6L mounted. See some pics below of his work. If you aren't following his project, I recommend that you do. Here is a link to his project thread, it is a worth reading if you haven't yet: Here are some pics of his project: |

The November 2022 Car of the Month is new member "BlackBetty's " (David's) 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport fastback David's Torino has an S-Code 400 engine and is a 50 year old survivor. The black on black Torino, affectionately called “Black Betty”
after the 70’s Ram Jam song, was purchased by his father in 1973 at Crown Ford in Nashville, Tn. The Torino has been
in the family since. Unfortunately David's father passed in 2016 and it was passed down to him. David says that he hasn't work on the car much until lately and plans is going to address the dried up seals and hoses first so he can drive and enjoy the car. Let's hope we hope we hear more from David about Black Betty. Here are some pics of his car: ![]() ![]() |
