The August 2023 Ride of the Month is new GTS.org member Dave Thompson's ("Dave T's") 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport fastback.

In August of 1972 Dave went to buy a new car and saw a cool 72 Gran Torino Sport. It was loaded, with AC and other accessories. Dave wanted a more basic Torino without all the accessories, so he ordered a new one just like he wanted it. The only real option he selected was power steering.  After more than 50 years, Dave still has his Torino.

Dave has already sold some parts in to our members.  Here's hoping we hear more about Dave's Torino.

Here are some pics of Dave's Torino.

Nice!  That was my original color.  I see trim on the rear quarter between the windows.  Originally a vinyl roof?  Mine was.

The September 2023 Ride of the Month is longtime GTS Member Mike Abraham's "torinomike650"1974 Ford Gran Torino hardtop.

Mike's Torino is perhaps the ulitmate GTS.org build.  It was a team effort between Mike and GTS.org's restoration guru CaliforniaJohnny.  Mike set out to replicate the S&H Torino from the pilot eposide.  His meticulous attention to detail resulted in the likely the most accurate replica of the pilot car ever produced.  The quality of workmanship on the restoration is second to none.

Mike's Torino was originally a 400 S-code car but has since been converted to a 351W build by Phoenix engines making about 330 hp, but appearing farily stock, right down to the exhaust manifolds.  He also upgraded to a AOD transmission with 4R70W gearing and installed 3.25 gears along with 31 spline axles in the 9" rear.

For those that have not checked out Mike's build thread, it is a long but excellent read.

Check out the photos below of the before and after.
