The February 2023 Ride of the Month is long time member "Steve M's" 1976 Ford Gran Torino 2-door hardtop.

Steve's '76 Gran Torino is an H-Code car powered a 351 Windsor and originally had a FMX transmission with 2.75:1 open differential, air conditioning and magnum 500 wheels.   He purchased the car around 2019 but this was his 5th Gran Torino over the last 40 years.  Since then Steve has done lots of work to the car including upgrading and rebuilding the 351 engine, replacing the FMX with a AOD automatic, installing new springs (CVPI and Cargo Coils), and new Cragar wheels. He also recently discovered the previous owner installed a trac-lok differnetal, which he believes is around a 3.50:1 ratio.  Steve is constantly doing little improvements and upgrades to his car and the result it is that it is one fine machine.

Congratulations Steve!

Take a look at all the great work Steve has done to his Torino in his project thread here:

Here are some pics of Steve's Torino:

Wow!
I  didn't expect this.  Thanks to all the members.  I've learned quite a lot from this group. More pictures are coming soon.  I'm displaying it on the 5th.  There is a car show in downtown St. Petersburg FL.  I agreed to bring it and enter it as a display.  Will let you know how it goes.  I'll spend the 4th getting it ready.

Looking good Steve. Do yourself a favor though and ditch that air cleaner. Or keep fire extinguishers close at hand.

That air cleaner is a fire waiting to happen. Backfire ignites the foam and bye bye.

The March 2023 Ride of the Month is long time member "Handsofstone" John's 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport.

John's '72 GTS is an S-code 400 car equipped with C6 automatic, and a 2.75 9" rearend.  The engine has been rebuilt and was upgraded with a aluminum intake and a Holley 4-bbl carb, and dual exhaust.  It was painted by the previous owner with a custom white stripe that emulated the Pure VIsion Torino.  When he bought the car in 2018 it had significant body damage.  John spent lots of time and effort to collect the front end parts and have the car repaired and painted to look better than ever.  John did many other little jobs on the car to detail it, and later installed a set of Magnum 500 wheels.  He also installed a 3.25 rear differential to upgrade the 2.75.

Unfortunately John recently sold his '72 GTS, but let's hope he sticks around and continues to share his knowledge.

Congratulations John!

Take a look the transformation that John has done to his Torino in his project thread here:

Here are some pics of John's Torino:
