I'm getting closer to selling my 1972 GTS.
At this point I am looking for $45K for the car. If you are in the midwest within ~5-6 hour drive of NE Kansas, I welcome you to come look over my GTS. Depending on location when the GTS sells, I may be willing to deliver to the buyer if we work something out. I'm looking at BAT (Bring a trailer) but I'm posting here first. If you look at my project thread, the car's history is there. It was an Iowa barn find, sat in a small barn for 17 years until I saved it in 2001. It took 9 years and 4 parts cars giving parts to bring back. NOS fenders I went to Canada for. Parts car from California, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri for hood, doors, decklid and everything else under the sun. I've owned her over 25 years. I've been a caretaker for her and it's time she finds a new home. I've had this GTS over 135MPH, just know she's something, like any snake, will bite you if you don't respect what it's capable of. If you know me, and know my GTS, it's be built to the point where if you want a '72 that can run 120-135MPH for extended periods, this is the car. But it really needs a half cage and actual racing belts. I don't recommend turning those speeds with just a lap Balt but hey, you only live once. I've owned it over 25 years. I've been a caretaker for her and it's time. Is it perfect? No...but multiple years of miles and Hot Rod Powertour events and lots of fun. Example is my videos on Powertour this year. I have all 5 days on 5 videos. I stripped the car to a bare shell, bare steel and worked from there over 9 years. Only area I have never touched is the underside of the tub. It's still wearing factory applied undercoating but some of it has softened up with exposer to ATF from Tremec transmissions over the years, and when wiped off, the factory yellow paint is there. I've put around 8,000 miles on the 351C 4V CJ rebuild/TKX/Suspension. We did the full powertour in June 2025, and then I drove from NE Kansas to Pikes Peak Colorado/Denver/back to Kansas July 4th 2025. Around 5600-5700 miles in 2 months. Engine was originally rebuilt in 2023 but first builder screwed things up and had to have Glenn at Dr Z's go through things. Engine built by Dr Z's Rod Shop in Detroit Winter 2023-early 2024. Replaced with another CJ 351C crank, and replaced all bearings, Camshaft was OK so it was reused. Roller lifters were replaced at Glenn's recommendation as a precaution. Forged flat top pistons, factory CJ rods shot blasted, ARP rod bolts (shot peened to receive stress similar to factory 351C 1971 Boss rods) and reconditioned, full Edelbrock RPM aluminum top end, RPM Performer 351C heads, 351C RPM air gap intake with AVS2 800CFM electric choke #1913 carb, original bore block was baked, shot blasted, checked, punched 0.030" over. ARP fasteners on everything, 4 bolt main block is original numbers matched to the GTS VIN based off numbers off the block. Oil system has TMeyer modifications done to #1 main and feed passages in block enlarged. Tmeyer cam bearings. MSD pro billet distributor (timing is locked, no vac advanced but had it. Would need Ford 10 or 14 degree bushing swapped on MSD distributor. I have the info for the company that makes the bushings for the MSD distributor) MSD 6ALD ignition with MSD 6EFI high output coil (Same as 90's F series trucks) RPM set to 5900 to protect the engine. Edlebrock staff advised spring package on heads is good to 6500, and didn't see the need to crank further. Engine is built to spin to around 7200-7400 RPM according to Glenn. Dyno ran on HRPT 2025, and had around 345HP at the tires, but I was also not winding the car harder than comfortable with. Figure around 390 HP at crank without pushing it overly hard. Car pulls hard in a steady curve. Milodon HD waterpump, Blue Thunder valve covers with billet PCV (no oil misting issues on hard pulls like stock PCV does on stamped covers). Cam is something selected by Scott at MPG heads to work based on street car application. .540 lift. Timing chain set was something he spec'ed, adjustable double roller with German made timing chain. Pushrods custom length for heads/cam. RobbMC 550 fuelpump. All AN fittings on engine bay fuel system / EFI SAE 30R9 spec hose for modern fuels and servicing. RobbMc Billet fuel regulator. I have -8AN / 1/2" SS steel fuel lines and new SS brake lines from Inline tube I never installed that go with the car. RobbMC custom fuel sending unit for 1/2" feed line / 3/8" -6AN. return line as well for a 74-76 tank. They can rework the sending unit for a 72-73 tank if desired. Planning on using Holley Hydromat in stock 72-73 tank with baffles welded in. Had plans to build more power but not going to happen. CVF Raptor 8 rib belt drive, 140 amp alt, Sanden style AC compressor, modern GM style steering pump. It will handle 5-6K shifts and smile all day long. Factory AC / dash system works ok. Heater core was replaced in summer 2023. Champion 3 core aluminum radiator, twin 14" spal fans. Cools well even in midwest 108F summer weather. Dash wiring was pulled and completely gone through summer 2023. Due to MSD, resistor wire was removed from dash harness. Have dual wideband o2 system installed in dash and cluster, but not powered/connected yet. Headlight switch replaced with NOS Ford headlight switch. The instrument cluster has been modified over the years and the Wideband gauge was tucked into the factory rally cluster. Voltmeter replaced the ammeter. Modern Driveline was huge in my original Toploader to TKO swap, so when it was time to upgrade, they sold me the TKX 5 speed in. July 2023. New driveshaft, high speed balanced. Front brakes are something I put together using 2000 Crown Vic police brakes. 12.3" front rotors, dual piston calipers with new braided brake lines front and on the rear axle flex hose/Y block. New SS rear brake hard line on the 9" KYB monotube shocks done in 2022-2023. New coil springs, fronts are 2000 Crown Vic. I trimmed them a bit, so the front is slammed a bit but the car rides good but it's a bit stiff. I have another box of brand new Moog/Mevotec 80090 front springs if buyer decided they want to raise the front. Lares Corp 841 3:1 quick ratio Saginaw steering box. Front suspension gone through winter of 22-spring 23. New Moog USA balljoints, All new energy suspension bushings, new bump stops. PMT fabrication strut rods with Little Shop spherical strut rod bearings. Little Shop upper control arms. Factory 1-1/8" front sway bar with energy suspension bushings and end links. Spohn rear control arms, upgraded 1976 big bearing 9", factory nodular carrier (original to car) rebuilt by Quick Performance with an Eaton Trutrack locker, 3.70 gears. Car has ZERO wheel hop on hard launches. It literally squats and goes on launch. Will do burnouts, but running stock 28 spline axles, have not run on a drag strip as of yet. Rear swaybar is now Addco 3/4" rear sway bar in factory sway bar axle mounts. Rear emergency/parking brake cable system changed to the 75+ design due to clearance for exhaust. Bumpers were smoothed and welded in 2010-2011 and triple chrome plated. No bumper rivets. 2.5" Dual Exhaust with X pipe and Magnaflow style stainless mufflers done in 2022. Center section is designed to be able to be dropped for servicing the TKX. V band clamps on mufflers allow rear pips to be disconnected. Rolling stock are 18" US Mag Daisy wheels. Grey center, polish lips. Rear tires are 295/45R18 Nitto 555 Front tires 255/45R18 Nitto 555 series (replaced the fronts before Powertour 2025 last summer. ) Glass is tinted all around 20%. Depending where you live, you may have issues with the cops but in 15 years, I keep mainly out of trouble in populated areas and cops leave me alone aside from thumbs up. Stereo is a Sony bluetooth head unit, high power with 200 watt internal class D amp. Kenwood deck and door speakers. I have additional 4" kicker mids on a plate in the dash center speaker but never bothered to wire them back in, without a system EQ to balance the output off another amp, was too loud at times for a high/high mid speaker. Head unit has a really nice sweep of features but you need an iPhone or android phone with 2 apps to really dial in/control the audiophile features. I built a dual 12" sealed sub box that is bolted in the trunk. Amp rack is sitting on top of a 16" Crown Vic steelie as a full size spare (Required to clear the front CV brake package). Dual Kenwood class D monoblock amps (1 amp per sub) There is also a 4 channel Kenwood amp that I smoked back in 2020 and never pulled from the rack. I debated about pulling the sound system as I know some guys are not into heavy base and just want a radio. NOTE: Dash was swapped from a 77-78 Cougar XR7. I repainted the dash in 2023 when I did the heater core. Dash was cut for modern DIN radio years ago by myself for a CD player. I laid in all new sound deadener (similar to Killmat/dynomat) and DEI heat insulation in 2022? time frame which was huge in helping the interior heat and sound deadening. Seats are Lincoln Mark 7 front. Rear seat is Crown Vic made to fit on the stock Torino metal frame potions. Much better comfort over the stock seats. A buddy helped me redo the entire interior somewhere 2010-2011. Seat foam on the buckets is showing its age but LMR makes new SVO seat foam that should fit the Mark7 seat frame. The bolsters on these buckets really make a difference in hard driving. Factory console is in the car. Carpet isn't perfect and showing its age. Could stand to be re-glued to the floor in places or refreshed with new. Replaced the factory clutch pedal with a new one from modern driveline due to hear on the factory pedal pivot points for the clutch Z bar linkage. All new bushings on the brake and clutch pedals. Newer boot for the clutch firewall rod from a Ford superduty/medium duty truck. Issues? She's not perfect. Main superficial issues: both quarters have minor hairline cracks that formed where the roof meets the quarters. Passenger panel was replaced with Tabco USA made 1/4 panel. Driver's 1/4 has a small patch behind the rear tire, otherwise factory quarter panel. I welded the replacement roof skin, after stripping all the lead in the seams. fully welded the roof to quarters on the factory seam to seal up, followed with all-metal filler with a skim of fiberglass and Rage gold body filler topped with DTM epoxy primer. Driver's door has a small rust bubble in the rear corner. Doors had been blasted inside and stripped to bare steel like the rest of the body then coated in epoxy DTM primer, this is the only rust issue on the entire car in an issue. I have a door with an NOS door skin welded on to a very cobbled door, was going to cut the skin off if I don't sell the door, the buyer can see if they want to buy that door skin. Passenger door glass needs minor adjustment. Believe the rollers/guide may be showing their age. Right rocker paint has a lot of road rash from an incident. I am looking at having a shop vinyl wrap the rockers to clean this up. I rocker guarded the entire bottom of the sides to protect the paint, and it's done its job. Paint needs a polish but the Sikkens paint shot in April 2010 still polishes out very well. GTS hood has had hinge reinforcement brackets fabricated due to stress cracking on the inner hood structure. Hood springs are showing their age but there are inner springs a guy is selling as a kit to help bring the hood back up. I have at least 5-6 years of images and videos I have not put online and edited into videos due to my personal life but if you have questions. I have multiple binders of receipts, notes, documents on the build. I have a lot of photographs of the car being built but I'd prefer to keep a majority of them but can be discussed if someone buys the car. I have small stash of some NOS front clip parts, headlight buckets, and I should still have 1-2 complete 72 GTS grill / surround / grill trim available to buy if buyer wants as spares. Other miscellaneous parts for a '72 as well. I've had a rear vibration and while I've tweaked the pinion angle, and also raised the rear of the TKX to reduce output angle, not had a chance to test at speed due to winter. Replaced the throwout bearing on the TKX a few months back. I've tried to be upfront on the details and issues that come to mind. OH! Personally, I'd strongly consider just going to Vintage Air on the heat/AC. The stock system just is showing its age and personally if you want modern levels of AC, gut the stock HVAC. All I can hope if someone buys her...she still gets run hard on the street and use used like a muscle car was always meant to be used and not just tucked in a garage. |

I hate this post. But completely understand your line of thought.
I hope she ends up in the right hands. You've put a lot into her, not speaking in dollars, but in sweat, heart, and passion. Good luck! |

Say it ain't so, Andy! I agree with Pete - I hate this post! This is an epic GTS, one iconic to this forum. The price is more than fair with the blood sweat and tears gone into this car. I hope it finds a good home.

Ditto Andy. It's a shame to hear you selling it. That car is a great combination of parts, and well executed.

Thanks guys. As much as it pains me, the Alabama experience was a massive error in judgement on my part, and restarting over.
I'm at the point where I want to get back into a house and I need to pay down debt before I can move forward. With that said, I will stay around here as one of the admins and the Facebook group to manage things. For the short term I'll just be more focused on my '84 Bronco build.
