So with some $ I came into, I am changing my wheels on my Cougar.

Currently it's 17" x 8 cragars in front with 255/50/17, and 17" x  9.5  in rear with 275/50/17

To get the proper wheel gap, I'd have a really steep nose rake and I really wasn't going for the 70's street machne look. These cars had massive 225 75 15 stock, and the 255/50/17 is TINY compared to it.

Originally I wanted to go with 18"x8  and 20"x9 wheels** But again, I'm not crazy about that much of a stagger. 255 50 18 would fit, and 295 45 20 would fit (30" rear tire.. plenty of room, lol.)  20" would fit all around.. and am thinking of a 20x7 in front and 20x8.5 in the rear . I like the 295 45 20 on the rear, and a 255 50 20.. the stagger is noticeable, but not so much the car will sit awful..

ORR should I go with the same size tire all around, front and rear?

I'm REALLY leaning towards these.

Thoughts?

I like the wheels you've chosen, but I've never been a big fan of big rear/small front wheels/tires. A car with the same size wheels/tires all around, or at least the same overall ride height (SLIGHTLY bigger wheels at the back but with slightly lower profile tires) looks a lot more professional, modern and rich (as in expensive).

A jacked up rear end with big tires screams "sittin' on the front porch drinkin' beer" ghetto-rod to me; it can be done to look good, but it's rare to see IMO!

I dont know if I'm a huge fan of dimension size staggering, but width looks very good. I am running 15x8 245/60/15 front and 15x10 w/ 3.75" backspacing and 295/50-15 rears. I did have to roll the rear fenders but they sit flush and dont stick out at all. This all fits well with the car lowered as well.
