hi mark.
i converted the valve itself into an adaptor by shimming out any end float of the ball joint and removing the long thru-bolt. it's a bit fiddly to do but it saves you $$$.
the steering is heavy to park but a lot more positive on the road.
a friend of mine has a mustang with an identical valve fitted, so i assume they are the same. i would not be surprised to see the same valve on quite a few fords/mercs of that time.
i would like to change the whole set-up to rack and pinion but have no idea what parts are used.
good luck.
nick.
