Here's my dilemma:

I want to change the steering wheel in the Cougar, but I don't hate what is currently there (stock black wheel). I find it a little *thin*, but it's not horrible. And it's cracked/split in a couple spots.

Option 1: Ford Sport wheel. I like it. I'm just not sure how I'd like it in my car. I don't want to spend the $200+ on one to find out I hate it.

Option 2: Doing some searching, I found that the 80-86ish trucks and vans have the same wheel. Just *padded*. Does anyone know if these wheels will fit? Can I unbolt a wheel from an 85 E series van, and use it on my steering column? I know the horn pads will fit (I made one good one out of 3 I had). If they work, I think I would prefer to go this route over the expensive Sport wheel.

Thanks in advance.

Mark,
Yes they will fit but I think there is a little issue with the spline "keying" between the wheel and the steering shaft. Do a bit of searching on the forum because I know we have been thru this before because I'm using an '80's era padded wheel on my '76 and we had a bit of discussion on this very subject.
Heading out to play on the car now, but I'll check back and if you haven't found it, locate the thread from the past that goves over all this.....
GOOD LUCK

So the answer was to file or grind a flat on the steering shaft?
