When you find a flywheel and bellhousing, please post the part numbers. I am putting a list together at some point for conversion as well. sticking with my 400 is my goal.

If you go the Z-bar route you need to think about what headers you are going to run. If you use shorties or stock manifolds you should not have an issue, but long tubes will have to be made to go around the Z-bar (Drivers Side). There might be some custom work involved as I do not know of a manufacturer that is making a BB header for a Z-bar setup in a 1972 Torino. I have a set of Hooker Super comps that were made to go around the Z-bar on my 4-speed 351C and I'm pretty sure that they are no longer made anymore. A cable setup that was mentioned earlier would be a somewhat easier solution. I had the Cable/Quadrant setup on my old Foxbody mustang and it worked great.

Modern Driveline would probably be able to help you out with a hydraulic conversion, but converting to a hydraulic clutch will also require a conversion to hydroboost brakes. The master cylinder for the clutch occupies the same space that the vacuum booster does. I have seen a conversion to a cable style clutch like those found on mustangs, but I don't know what all is involved with that.

Hello everyone. I have a 72 that I have transplanted a 460/C6 combo into. I would really like to go with a manual transmission and have already installed the pedals and proper steering column. Has anyone run the stock mechanincal Z-bar linkage with a big block or is it better to go hydraulic? And if so what kind of hydraulic setup is easiest? This will be a street only application so I am not worried about using the small input top loader I have. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Happy Holidays!!
